Kemal Evans

Singer, Songwriter, Recording Artist

Kemal Evans combines original songwriting with infectious melodies and danceable rhythms. His sound is a mix of soul, rock, hip-hop and reggae. From acoustic grooves to free-style rhyming, his live shows are always exciting and fresh. Having toured Western Canada extensively (also opening for such names as Jully Black, Gift of Gab & The Mighty Underdogs and Naughty by Nature), Kemal Evans caught the ear of music industry heavyweights Virgin Radio (Vancouver) and the Canadian Music Week Conference in Toronto. Kemal's songwriting talent won him the Astral Media Radio Star Songwriting. While Kemal’s music makes for a shaking good time, beneath the bright, highly rhythmic surface, there is a soulful thoughtfulness. His music will reach out and move you.

Gettin' Higher Choir

Renowned Victoria Choral Group

Victoria’s Gettin’ Higher Choir is well-known for raising spirits and hundreds of thousands of dollars for impoverished Africans and local youth over the past 25 years. They seek to embrace and celebrate humanity’s highest aspirations through music. Their aim is to integrate singing into the daily routines of life - for the pure joy and pleasure. But what most Victorians might not know is the choir has been the model for dozens of other non-auditioned community choirs around the world — including a women’s prison choir in Mexico, a hospice choir and a choir started by a Hollywood actor.
